Yossi Vardi, Conference Chairman

Mr. Vardi is One of Israel’s early entrepreneurs. He co-founded, led, funded and helped build more than 80 high-tech, energy, natural resources, and clean-tech companies. Many of them went public, including Tekem, Alon Energy, Granite Hacarmel and many more. As the founding investor of Mirabilis Ltd, - the creator of iCQ - Vardi co-pioneered instant messaging.

Vardi was chairman of the board of trustees of Jerusalem Foundation, Weitzman Institute. Hebrew University, the Open University, the Technion. He was an advisor to the World Bank, United Nations Development Program, CEO’s of Amazon, AOL, Siemens Albis, and Allied–signal, member of the World Economic Forum, and Co-chairman of the EU-Israel business dialogue.

He was the director general of Ministry of Development and Ministry of Energy, chairman of Israel National Oil Company, and Israel Chemicals. Participated in the peace talks with Egypt, Palestinians, Jordan and Syria. 

Lt. General (Res.) Zvika Gendelman , Mayor of Hadera City, Israel

Mayor Tzvika Gendelman  was previously serve in the Israeli Defense Forces during 32 years; his last role was a Brigadier General in the Israeli Armored Corps. Gendelman served as a security analyst for various military issues, especially those relating to the border with Lebanon and Syria. Gendelman holds a master's degree in political science and national security from Haifa University.

During his life, he managed a large-scale project in the business sector. He led the establishment of Cinema City in Rishon Letzion and was the CEO of the complex. Gendelman was raised in Hadera since he was a child and after a few years decided he wants to develop and give the city his knowledge and experience. In 2013 he ran to be the Mayor of Hadera City and wins the elections.

Today Hadera leads the Israeli list of the most sought-after cities to live in, thanks to the extraordinary development and change that is taking place in the city. Anne Korin , Co-director of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security (IAGS) and Senior Adviser to the United States Energy Security Council

Anne Korin is co-director of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security (IAGS) and senior adviser to the United States Energy Security Council. Her work has been published in Foreign Affairs, The American Interest, The National Review, The Wall Street Journal, Commentary Magazine, MIT Innovations, the Journal of International Security Affairs, etc. She is co-author of Energy Security Challenges for the 21st Century (2009,) Turning Oil into Salt: Energy Independence through Fuel Choice (2009) and Petropoly: The Collapse of America's Energy Security Paradigm (2012).

Yisrael Dancziger, Director General of the Ministry of Environmental Protection

Director General of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and a former entrepreneur and hi-tech CEO, Yisrael Dancziger has also been an active board member of several organizations that work on behalf of children, youth, and families at-risk, as well as those that work to promote education and employment for those with special needs.

Dancziger was born in Kfar Etzion. He enlisted in a pilots' course, and then continued with the Sayeret Matkal commando unit, before joining the paratroopers' sabotage squad, where he served as a team commander and deputy commander of the unit. In the reserves he served as the commander of a paratroopers unit.

Dancziger studied in Ben-Gurion University, and founded and managaed Digital Fuel, which developed products for massive companies and was ultimately sold to VMware. During that time, he was also a partner in the establishment, investment, and recovery of other hi-tech companies. He is the author of "Yozma - Israeli Story" - the story of the creation of a global software company.

Dancziger was active in the establishment and management of several organizations that work on behalf of children, youth, and families at-risk, as well as for the promotion of employment in the periphery. In 2014, he became one of the founders of the Kulanu political party.

Since 2015, Mr. Dancziger has served as the Director General of the Ministry of Environmental Protection. During his tenure, he led the Ministry to the forefront of the governmental stage, to actions and to achievements, including: reducing pollution and environmental risks to the public; reducing social gaps; and leading strategic revolutions in the fields of vehicular pollution, industrial energy production, waste, and more.



YIFTACH RON-TAL, Chairman of the IEC Board of Directors, The Israel Electric Corporation Ltd.

Maj. Gen. (Res.) Yiftah Ron-Tal is the Chairman of Israel Electric Corporation (IEC).

He served 32 years in the IDF, and retired as Commander of the Israeli Ground Forces. He also served as Chairman of the Israel Ports Company.

Ron-Tal holds an Executive MBA degree from Bar-Ilan University and a law degree (LLB) from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Amos Lasker, founding partner of Amrav. Chairman of the Israeli Smart Energy Association ( ISEA) and Chairman of the Israeli private producers ( UIIP).

Amos  has enormous professional experience in the energy, utilities, telecommunications and high-tech fields. Prior to the creation of Amrav he served as President & CEO of the Israel Electric Company. He also founded and directed a number of prominent Israeli telecommunications companies, including The Med Group, Globescom, and Gvanim Cable TV. Amos holds a B.A. in Economics, an M.A. in the Philosophy of Science and an M.B.A. from Tel Aviv University.

Mr. Yosi Rosen , Chairman of Israeli Institute of Energy & Environment

Mr. Yosi Rosen is the Chairman of Israeli Institute of Energy & Environment. In parallel, he is also the Chairman of Reshet-Noga Co. Ltd. (Channel 2 - Reshet), President of XT Holdings Ltd.

Prior to the IIEE, Mr. Rosen served as Chairman and Director General in the Oil Refineries, Carmel Olefins and the Israel Chemical Ltd, among others companies.

Mr. Rosen holds a MA in Business Management and a BA in Economics and Political Science, from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Shmuel De-Leon, Founder & CEO, Shmuel De-Leon Energy

Shmuel De-Leon, is the founder and CEO of Shmuel De-Leon Energy.  
Shmuel is a leading international expert in the business of Power Sources.
Prior to founding the company, Shmuel held for over 22 years various positions as a power sources, engineering and quality control team manager. 
Shmuel holds a BSc. in mechanical engineering from Tel-Aviv University and an MBA in quality control and reliability engineering from the Technion Institute in Haifa as well as an Electronic Technician's diploma.

Gil Shaki, Senior Director, Energy, Cleantech & Infrastucture, Israel Innovation Authority (IIA)

Gil is part of a team pivoting a revolution in Israel's innovation policy, aimed at creating the conditions for growth of tech companies active in "hard" fields, such as energy, cleantech, construction, transportation, and more. In its strive to broaden the economic and social impact of Israel's knowledge-intensive industry, the Israel Innovation Authority has joined forces with 9 other ministries and governmental agencies to transform Israel into a "Beta Site", and to support, financially and regulatory, the adoption of innovative technologies. Additionally, the IIA has set target to have "patient" capital platforms available for investments in tech companies active in "hard" fields.

Gil has had a fundamental role is setting up Israeli government's policy for local content in extractive industries, resulting in nearly $1 billion of local content commitments and in activities to promote collaborations of Israeli tech companies with key global players.

In his 20-years career as a public servant, Gil has also been the head of Israel's economic and commercial offices in India, Spain and Portugal, and Israel's representative to the OECD's Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy (CSTP).

Amir Foster , Head of Strategy and Research Israeli Association of Oil & Gas Exploration Industries

Amir Foster worked as a Senior Energy Analyst in Israel's financial market. In 2012 he established "Foster Consultancy Group" that focuses on the energy sector in general and natural gas in particular. Among the company's clients were gas companies, government ministries and various organizations from Israel and abroad. Since 2016 Mr. Foster is Head of Strategy and Research of the Israeli Association of Oil & Gas Exploration Industries. 

Amir holds an McS in Finance from Tel Aviv University. 

Zviya Baron, Head, of HANGAR by BEDEK IAI

Zviya Baron, is the Head, of HANGAR by BEDEK, a commercial aviation innovation lab powered by the Israeli Aerospace Industries, a $5bl. company. In that role, she initiated an open-innovation model customized to the needs of a state-owned company and start-up alike.

She has 25 years of hands-on innovation experience and eco-system building, and more than 15 years of innovation consulting track record with both government agencies and corporations on innovation strategies and policies.

Previously, she served as the "in-house" advisor of the Innovation Energy committee at the Israeli National R&D Council which is aimed at promoting Energy research and development. She also serves as a start-ups evaluator for the Israeli Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

Prior to that, she served as Director of Innovation at PetroQuantum, a Dutch based Energy consulting firm, and incepted this practice in Israel, and she also directed projects with corporations on various innovation strategy programs. Among her clients, were Elbit Systems, Rafael and the Israeli Electricity Company. Her extensive experience in the private and public sector complements her leadership of initiatives that establish strong ties between industry, government agencies, academia and financial players.

Before, Ms. Baron has been the CEO of an alternative fuels start up. In this capacity, she initiated the establishment of the Israeli alternative fuels forum and was a member of the European standards group for emulsified fuels. In addition, she served as a consultant to Israeli and Dutch entrepreneurs and start-up companies on marketing and business development strategies.

Ms. Baron is a visiting professor to various Israeli universities giving courses on energy innovation and green entrepreneurship to both graduate students and PhD's.

Ms. Baron earned her BA at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and her MBA at the

Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University in the Netherlands.



Eng. Yehuda Rodal, Director of the Center for Natural Gas – Noble-Ruppin

Yehuda Rodal is a Chemical Engineering graduate from the Technion and currently a doctoral student in engineering.

One of the founders of Palmahim desalination plants, solar power plants (PV), Ashdod Desalination Plant and other complex engineering projects, since 2015 he has served as the director of the Noble-Ruppin Center for courses and certifications in natural gas for industry, as well as the Head of the Department of Energy and Natural Gas Engineers at Ruppin Technology College.

His lecture: "The Natural Gas Revolution - The Great Industrial Revolution in Israel". The lecture will focus on the advantages of natural gas, the status of the gas industry today and the conversion processes taking place in the local industrial sector.



Gideon Frank, Former Director General of the Israel Atomic Energy Commission

Has been involved for decades with research and development for both the government and private sector, as well as with international nuclear policy and non-proliferation issues.

He serves now as the Chairman of the executive council of the Technion Israel Institute of Technology and as a director on the Board of the Israel Electric Corporation and on the Board of the NTI (Nuclear Threat Initiative) Washington.


Mr. Tomer Novotny, Business Development, Electra Ltd.

Tomer is a business development manager for Electra Ltd. and is in charge of pursuing new business sectors and implementing them in the group.  Tomer is currently focused on energy storage solutions for the Israeli market. Tomer's former employee was Israeli Electric Corporation (IEC), business development team.

Tomer is a lawyer and holds an LL.B and MBA  from Haifa University.

Chen Shalita, CEO and founder of Alfa Sustainable Projects LTD


Chen Shalita is the founder and CEO of Alfa Sustainable Projects Limited, specializing in highly technological sustainable projects. 

The firm is leading the sustainable design of some of the highest profile projects in Israel, and are working for international firms such as Microsoft, Intel, Autodesk and Google on implementing innovative sustainable technologies into their office projects. Alfa won the ILGBC Excellence in Innovation Award 2016. Chen is a board member of the Israeli Green Building Council, and headed the Smart Bases task force commissioned by the Ministry of Defense to define the sustainable strategy for several new bases under construction. The firm worked with the Prime minister office to develop a sustainable building program for their infrastructure. 
Chen was the co-director of the Israeli Team to Solar Decathlon china 2013, which won several prizes and was the first Israeli project to have a Net Positive Energy balance. 
Chen worked as an Architect with Diamond & Schmitt Architects in Toronto, and earned his LEED AP from the Canadian Green Building Council.

Reut Rabi, Head of Energy group & Deputy to Head of Air Quality & Climate Change Division, Ministry of Environmental Protection

Reut Rabi is the Head of the Energy Department and deputy to the Head of the Air Quality and Climate Change Division. She works in the Ministry of Environmental protection from 2010 and Prior to public service, she was a private environmental consultant for 6 years. Ms. Rabi leads the team of policy making and regulation of the environmental aspects of the Energy sector including the latest policies – phase out of coal, Paris climate goals, promotion of energy efficiency and applying renewable energy. This includes work with relevant ministries, many stakeholders of energy production, including the Israeli Electrical Company and private energy producers, both conventional and renewable. As the Israeli government sets its goals for reducing CO2 emissions, Ms. Rabi and her team are working towards meeting these goals using tools such as government subsidies, statutory planning, innovation support, and setting of tariffs. She is also responsible for the implementation of air quality regulations in the on- and off-shore gas sector.

Leehee Goldenberg, Director of the Economy, Environment and Natural Resources Department at Adam Teva V’Din (Israel Union for Environmental Defense)

With a specialization in extractive industries, the management of natural resources, the energy economy - including advancing energy efficiency and renewable energies - air quality and industry and as head of the economics & natural resources department at Adam Teva V’Din, Leehee is responsible for some of the most important environmental lawsuits of the last half decade. Inter alia, she successfully litigated and secured amendments to the government’s road map for the offshore natural gas industry. She is currently representing NGOs and community activists in a multiparty lawsuit to halt the expansion of a petro-chemicals complex where planning approval was granted in violation of planning & building laws. Leehee is also leading Adam Teva V’Din’s litigation against the Dead Sea Works, and the Water Authority. The case, meant to limit the amount of water used by the Dead Sea Works in their mineral production processes, now in its third year, will have crucial repercussions on environmental conditions at the Dead Sea.

Before joining Adam Teva V'Din she worked as at the Department for International Agreements & International Litigation at Israel's Ministry of Justice and the Department of International Affairs at the Office of the State Attorney.

Shay Arendt-Cohen, CEO, Hadera Development Company

Shay holds a bachelor's degree in law (LLB) and a master's degree in business administration (MBA). As a lawyer, Shay specializes in commercial and real estate law.

In his last position, Shay served as VP Business Development at the Kfar Saba development Company. His scope of responsibilities included the company's business development, real estate development and entrepreneurship of major public projects.

In addition, Shay played a major role in senior management positions, in the fields of real estate and business development, including public companies such as the Delek Israel Group and more.

Today, Shay manages the Hadera Development Company. My biggest goal, says he, is to realize and fulfill the vast potential embodied in the company and especially in its employees.

Avi Blau , Head of Afeka Institute of Circular Engineering and Economy, and Sustainability Consultant to the Deputy Accountant General, Ministry of Finance

Avi is an industrial engineer and holds a B.Sc in Environmental Sciences from Lund University (Sweden). Avi has over 15 years of sustainability consulting experience working with large corporations, government and municipal agencies. He is a popular speaker and teaches academic courses in environmental management and circular economy.
